Peppi Pustier: Lost in Time
Our interpid museum mascot Peppi Pustier has come to life and embarked on an action-packed time travel adventure! Follow his journey in the colourful pages of the museum's very first comic book and get a sneak peek into our collection too. Launched in December during the 2016 edition of the Malta Comic Con, Lost in Time can be obtained from th counter of the Malta Postal Museum and also online from our website.
Our First Floor Gallery is showing a photographic exhibition of a number of rare black and white photos taken in the early 1930’s by English photographer Richard Ellis. The prints focus exclusively on the General Post Office in Merchant’s street and also take us behind the scenes to the sorting rooms where Malta’s mail was readied for dispatching.
Emvin Cremona Retrospective
Spend some time in front of the Emvin Cremona Exhibition. Widely regarded as one of Malta's finest 20th century artists, these artworks are but a sample of his collaboration with the Department of Posts. From 1957-1979 he produced more than 170 original designs for 62 sets of stamps. Gibbons Stamp Monthly has called his style 'distinctively flamboyant, immaginatively conceived and beautifully executed'. His artworks define and establish an imagery of innovation, often challenging the basic format of stamp design and his involvement in the design of Maltese postage stamps is considered as the 'golden era' of Maltese philately.
