AMALGAM

8-27 April 2019

A collective exhibiton of works in clay is being exhibited at the Malta Postal Museum & Arts Hub. The works on display hail from 17 different studios and combine local and Sicilian ceramists. This collective follows on from a pervious roaming exhibition Vasi Communicati held in Sicily in March 2018, commemorating the influence of the life and works of the well-known, Sciacca-born ceramist Cosimo Barna on his peers.

The title Amalgam reflects the merger or rather fusion of Maltese and Sicilian ceramists as part of an ongoing collaboration. Each artist has submitted two pieces of work of their choice - a healthy mix of free standing sculptures and wall mounted murals as representative of their oeuvre - the aim being to explore diversity within the self-contained framework of ceramics.

The exhibition will be launched on April 6 and opens to the public the following Monday.
